THE MURDER MEN
The Murder Men are one of the most mysterious bands ever to grace the My Favorite Hard Time compilation series.
Without this release they may have just been another band on the underground music periphery, since they played absolutely
zero shows in their existence.
Their music is collage-like: piano melodies, tape hiss, lyric fragments, background noises, AM radio samples, and a plethora of other things. The mess of sources comes together as the track builds to a coherent whole. Think of a more straightforward Negativeland composing in the realm of freak folk.
The Murder Men made the sort of music that you want to find at Goodwill on an unlabeled cassette tape. Stuff that makes you wonder about their reference points but at the same time makes total sense. The kind of music that makes you want to make some music of your own.
